Tallest Mammal in the World!

A Giraffe is the tallest mammal in the world!! The Giraffes average height is around 17-20 feet tall. Other animals in the savannah use these tall mammals as watchtowers or observation posts for predators. You will probably never see a Giraffe sleep, because they get so little of it. They just sleep for a few minutes at a time, and usually only get about 30 minutes total in a single day. Giraffes can go without drinking water longer then a camel!! They can go for days without water, which actually protects them from some of the dangers that more water dependent animals have. When being attacked giraffes use their large powerful hooves to kick at its enemy. Newborn giraffe calves begin their lives by falling 6 feet to the ground. A Calve is about 6 feet tall at birth. A Giraffe is able to clean its ears with its own tongue.
